    Hi guys

My 16 month old VPCSA refuses to turn on with its primary battery pack in. No lights, no nothing. When I plug it in to mains the battery light just flashes orange very quickly and the computer still won't start. Yesterday the battery was in great condition (apparently). When I remove the primary battery pack it starts just fine. The computer doesn't recognise the secondary sheet battery either, but it will still start with it connected.

Does this mean my primary battery (VGP-BPS24) is defective and stopping the computer from starting? Or is there a motherboard fault?

Unfortunately this machine is well out of warranty and was purchased overseas.

    Thanks in advance

Well I grabbed a Sony battery off ebay and now my laptop is back to life! Thank the heavens.

I'm still very pissed that my middle aged battery spontaneously failed. I've got dell batteries twice the age that still work!
