Hi,
I have a new A170 Vaio laptop (bought a week ago), which doesnt boot up
It began giving problems couple days ago... its CD tray just came crashing out, while it was switched off. I had just finished working on it for a straight 10 hours, transferring files into it from my old lappie, shut it down, put it into a backpack and took it along... when I took it out of the backpack about 30 minutes later, the tray just went sailing out of the other end. The foil connector was out of its slot, and the tray was cleanly out of the rails that hold it in place... Anyone have any clues on why this happened?
Well anyways, the rest of the machine worked fine for the next 40-something hours... without the CD... I finally managed to snap the CD tray into place this morning, and to connect the foil connector, but then the darn machine refused to boot...
It just gets to the Windows boot screen (the screen with the black background where you get the Windows XP Home logo) and hangs there.
If I try booting in safe mode, it gets to a file called AGP440.sys, and stops booting after that.
I have also tried physically removing the tray (like it was earlier), and rebooting again, but no luck...
The DVD RW drive also does not seem to work after connecting. When Windows is booting up, and the machine is on, there is an amber-colored light that seems to be coming from the drive door, but when I put in a CD into the drive, it doesnt seem to read the CD.
Can anyone please give me any pointers as to what has gone wrong, and what I can do now to get the machine working, especially because the DVD drive doesnt seem to work?
The machine has no floppy drive, and I do not have a network that I can boot from.
Thanks in advance.

You're unit is defective. Get it replaced/repaired. That's pretty much the quickest solution. It looks like the drive may have been loose in your back and when moving around, it may have popped out. After connecting it back, it might be because it's not seated properly and causing a short. The OS not booting with the AGP440.sys error seems to be relating to the CD/DVD drive being reconnected. If you disconnect it, it should boot fine. Looks like you're gonna have to send the unit in for service or get a new unit.
