Hello, I once turned this function on in Vista, but now I'm on Windows 7 and my battery can charge only to 80 percent. I want 100 percent, but when I open BatteryCare.exe I cant change anything in that window, everything is disabled. Sony software suck, every single application from Sony
Have anyone any solution to this problem? I would really appreciate it, I'm trying to solve it for days and I'm becoming nuts because of it.

    Thanks in advance
    Milan

Have you tried "Vaio Control Center" , under power management, battery then click on advanced.

I normaly just press the S1 button on my F11 , but i dont know what you have.

Just type "Vaio Control Center" into the run box and it should pop up.

Do you mean you did a clean install of Windows 7? It may have got rid of some drivers that are needed for the Vaio Battery Care program to work properly. I'm not sure that's just a complete guess. Or maybe you have an old version of the program and need to run Vaio update to get the latest version that is compatible with Windows 7.

Sorry, I can't help you much because I have no experience with Vaio software (my laptop in my sig hasn't arrived yet).

oh.. i forgot to write that I have Vaio TZ240N. I reinstalled all the drivers. I thought that the problem was cause of old Vista drivers, but today I downloaded "new" Win 7 drivers but the problem is still the same. Vaio update? What does this great software do? Opens a Vaio support site with error message. That sucks. I'm ataching screenshots. Wow, what a cool settings and controls in Vaio Control center.. In Vaio Control center if I click advanced it takes me to Windows Power settings. Yeah, Windows Power Settings that is really advanced :D

    yeah i got same problem...
one month ago i'm enabling battery care function using VAIO Power Management (it is for Vista)..and my battery will stop after reaching 80%

and after sometime, i don't know why, SPMgr.exe can't be started (windows error message : SPMgr.exe has stopped working blablabla....)

so i tried to unistall and reinstall SONY Notebook Utilities (again, it is Vista Version) but SPMgr.exe still error and cant be started..

and then i'm trying to Install SONY Battery Care (for Win 7) and it not helping my problem...Battery Care not working too

and then i did a Win 7 clean install.. and still, the battery stopping charging in 80%

    it sucks...
someone know how to reset the battery ???

Make sure all the drivers from Sony are up-to-date. Run Vaio Update, Windows Update and check for drivers on Sony's website. Also, try contacting Sony directly via their support page. I guess last resort would be to reinstall Vista temporarily, change the battery care settings, then reinstall Windows 7 again.

I dont know what you are complaining about... WITH battery care ON, the charging is supposed to stop at 80% ! (you can even set it to stop at 50%)
Its supposed to do that to preserve the lifetime.

I have no problem with battary care on TZ250 after clean install Win7 Ultimate x32.

Battary Care was turned On on Vista. I turned it on/off (80%/100%) without any problems on Vistan and now on Win7.

    Did clean Win7 install. First, flushed R0052N7 (SLIC 2.1) bios. Then installed: (1) Shared Library 4.1.00.12130; (2) Event Service 3.3.00.11200; (3) Control Center 2.1.00.09190; (4) Setting Utility 3.1.00.09249; (5) Power Management 2.4.00.15100 ...
(SonyPI, FirmwExt and TPM drivers were installed by Windows Update after clean install Win7).

Even the Battary Care was turned On on Vista (80%), I got it turned off (100%) after clean install of Win7 (100%).

In fact I did that procedure for VGN-TZ250 and VGN-TXN27 - versions of sony sw were different but behavior of Battary Care function was the same.

I spent quite a lot of time in finding the "correct" set of vaio utilities those works 100% on TZ250 (what's why I specified the sequence and the versions) with Win7. Hope this information may help. And I believe if this procedure (clean install) doesn't fix the problem with battary care, then something is wrong with your HW.
