I am looking for a good 12 or 13 notebook. Currently DELL XPS M1210 is on the top of my list, then the Sony Vaio C series.

Can the RAM of the C series (Black edition with Go 7400 VGA) be upgraded by owner without voiding warranty? Are both modules easily accessible? I would like to have 2GB of RAM, but a notebook configured with 2GB is too expensive, so I am thinking of maybe order with 512 and later upgrade to 2GB myself, is it possible ?

Yes, just keep your original memory, IF something does happen just put the 512mb ram back into the pc - I dont beleive using the CORRECT ram should VOID warrenty but it could - but what they dont know dont hurt them.

I downloaded the manual for C series, according to that, there is only one upgradeable ram slot, So if I order with 512MB that means I wont be able to upgrade to 2GB (2x1GB). Unfortunately there is no option to order with 1x 1GB, it has to be either 1x512 , 2x512 or 2x1GB.
