Ok, so initially, I was kind of pumped for this 14 inch notebook, it look alright and could have been a real alternative to a macbook. So now that the specs are up... Custom orders start at 1140 so its pretty cheap. The hardware specs seem alright, no integrated graphics though. But here's the issue, there's no point in buying this laptop! The cr can get as thick as 1.67 inches, in comparision the 15 inch fz only gets to 1.4 inches thick. On top of that, the cr is 10 inches in depth, so is the vaio fz. The only dimensional change is that the cr is 1 inch less wide. Personally, there's no point to buying this laptop, technically the fz is just as compact, only weighs .25 pounds more, and packs a larger screen. Man.. sony had a chance here, if they made it thinner and wasted less space on design features and offered a dedicated, i wouldve gone for this.
Here's the spec sheet in pdf format...

The FZ is actually 20 bucks cheaper when I spec them the same. (Downspec the FZ to the cheaper screen and integrated graphics.) And unlike the CR, that FZ price includes bluetooth.
So I guess the point of the CR is... the colored lids? -
Yep, and not much else. Factor in the optional larger screen, dedicated graphics, and optional blu-ray on the FZ, and you have one dead duck in the Sony lineup.
At least the FJ was significantly smaller, thinner, and lighter than the FS. Plus, it was one of the first mainstream notebooks to feature a built in webcam. -
keep in mind that the CR series has Sony's new apple macbook-esque keyboard. it's a complete change.

AGAIN!! The TZ & CR has A VAIO 505 EXTREME styled keyboard, not "apple/mac", the vaio 505 EXTREME was even released almost 3 years earlier then the macbook. so who copy whose?

LOL... ok, but if Frozen had said it has Sony's new Sony VAIO 505 EXTREME-esque keyboard, I wouldn't have known what he was talking about.

Even though the FZ screen is diagonally larger, it still has the same number of pixels. I think the slight weight and size difference do matter if the laptop is to be carried around a lot (for example taken to class).
I just returned an FZ for a CR. The CR ended up slightly cheaper, and this is a laptop for my girlfriend so I'm sure she'll love the style more. -
Can anybody confirm that the memory used in these notebooks is PC2-5300 ?

I say they should have stayed at 13.3".
