I recently purchased a Sony Vaio CS390 that came with Vista. I performed a clean install to WinXP but could not properly install the Sony Shared Media driver and the Notebook Utilities driver from the Sony support website. All other drivers installed properly. So right now everything works except the function key, the AV controls (top buttons that controls sound volume) and I don't have any of the Vaio software.

I called support and the lady on the phone told me the Sony Shared Media and Notebook Utilities will not work with WinXP even though on their support website it states the drivers are for WinXP. I believe she said this is due to my copy of the Win XP being retail and not the custom Win XP made for Sony.

Has anyone had an experience like this? Can anyone offer me any solutions? Feedback is much appreciated! Thank you all.
