    Yeah 5ushi,

But it ain't the (older) Z problem.
Sure I have the same problem on my Z now [1st gen], but I can assure you that both my SZs have the same issue too. 2nd gen and 4th gen.

In my opinion, it's a VAIO issue.

Rachel has suggested power saving vs performance mode. I've never tried it ironically...gotta pull out all my 3 computers to do tests when I get the time.

So is there no consensus about what in the software is doing the battery drain? If XGX's friend has an i3 that has no drain, and dad has an F series with i7 with no drain, but others with i5 have drain, what is the common software feature in Windows 7 which is being toggled on/off which is causing it?

If there are i3s vs i5s then it can't be the bios as they both are on the same motherboard- it could be the i5 chip itself (activating powerboost during sleep?)

This "issue" is one of the few things that is causing my hesitation about buying this from BB.

Hi I´m from brazil, mine tests in CW21FX (Core i3 330, GeForce 310m) Royal Indigo

IN HIBERNATE MODE - POWER SAVING MODE - WIRELESS KEY ON
Battery initiated at 80% (battery care, max) after 1h 69%

IN HIBERNATE MODE - POWER SAVING MODE - WIRELESS KEY OFF
    Battery 69% after 1h 66%

SHUTDOWN - POWER SAVING MODE - WIRELESS KEY OFF
    Battery 66% after 1h 63%

to isolate the problem we can install, for example, Linux and see if this also occurs on this operating system then we would know if it's something with the hardware or any configuration of windows or incompatibility

A question to XGX2007 What´s Sony software is strictly necessary to install? I want do a clean install using Windows 7 installing only necessary software, like drivers. If this fix my problem great, if don´t I ll install other windows version like XP, I don´t know :p

I bought a i3 Graphics Card G310 CW machine. Did not do any clean install.. Except the nearly 7-10 % discharge in each startup (Booting from full shutdown), it did'nt show battery drain. I have started the machine even after 4 days and it remained consistent. No battery drain. So it seems likely that the problem is for i5 machines specifically. Will scrutinize the problem carefully and let the results.

Somehow i do feel these battery numbers are wrong and inconsistent, mainly due to the fact that running a huge programs (servers and virtual box, sometimes from ) the battery numbers do not decrease as much as a normal shutdown and start up.

With i5 systems, can we please check whether after the battery drain, the battery stays as long as it says it will ? Or is the values exaggerating ?

    @rosh

It has been confirmed by some Sony VAIO CW26/27 owners that its just a battery meter problem. Here's one.

Last night I fully charged my brand new i5 powered Vaio CW290X and I woke up this morning to a dead computer. It was plugged in but in standby all night. When I went to boot it up it gave me that "Windows did not properly shut down" prompt and asked if I wanted safe mode.

I now have no battery and I have to charge it all day to get back to full. Is there any solution to this yet?

Was there ever a fix found for this? I'm having issues with my VPCCW27FX draining overnite to 0% after hibernate on an extended 9 cell battery.

Were you able yo check if your battery charge was 100% before going to hibernate?

Another question, was it charging that battery when you turned on the laptop?

Plugged in charged to 100% then unplugged & put to hibernate. I thought it was maybe the Windows 7 automatic update waking it up, but it doesn't always tell me it has updated so I'm not sure. I do have bios password setup, but I'm not sure if the battery is draining by itself while off or waking itself up & getting stuck at the password screen.
