Now first of all, I know some people just want to see what's really inside what they just purchased... so for everyone that has bought a Vaio VPCCW17-FX from Best Buy, this is what the insides look like. This was BY FAR the easiest laptop that I've EVER taken apart. All the bottom plate screws are the same size/length/head so all you really have to do is keep up with them when you take them out! Also this is quite a bandwidth intensive thread, but I've offloaded the load to flickr instead of NBR forums. Enjoy!

Great pics! Does the heatsink/fan for the CPU require the GPU heatsink to be removed aswell if you want to change the CPU or are they seperate underneath that panel

On mine, the GPU ane CPU are connected together on the same Heatsink, so to remove the CPU heatsink, I have to remove the GPU heatsink too.

Yea! I've been playing Bioshock and Bioshock 2 lately with a little Modern Warfare 2 and pretty much every game I've played ran very smoothly. Linux runs great, but with Ubuntu and the NVIDIA drivers, you have to change the DSDT tables to get it to recognize the internal flat panel monitor. Upon installing the NVIDIA drivers in Ubuntu you have to start the computer up with an external monitor plugged in to fix the default monitor issue. But this notebook has absolutely no issues with Windows 7. It runs amazingly well on this hardware!
