    Hi all-

I'm visiting the in-laws, and noticed that when I try to get on their wireless network (a Linksys WRT54G version 8), my new Vaio CW27 causes the router to crash and disconnects the other laptops as well as their desktop (connected to router by an ethernet cable). Once this happens, I have to unplug the router from the modem to make it reset.

Considering the WRT54G is a very popular router, has anyone else had this problem, and is there a solution? I've seen some stuff in other forums, but most of the posts are a couple of years old. I don't want to mess with the router too much as I am just visiting, but it would be nice to be able to use my own laptop while I'm here.

BTW, the router is using WPA2 security settings. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it. My CW is also the only machine in the house running Windows 7, so I guess it could be a Windows 7 problem...

    Thanks!
    Alex

I have 2 of the WRT54G routers, one v3 with 16mb of RAM and one v8 with 2mb of ram. Now the v3 is able to handle WPA2 with multiple clients no problem. I'd say that your v8 is running out of memory and freezing. WPA2 is some hard security on a router with such little RAM. Try going just WEP shared key or something that puts less stress on the router.
