    Hi all,
I guess this question isn't necessarily specific to Sony but more to laptops with high resolution screens. But as I've just bought a Vaio EB4X0E I thought I would post it here. My Vaio has a 15.5" HD display (1920 x 1080), now I knew things would be on the small side but I was happy with this and I liked the idea of more screen space to work with. Things are very small though, I've upped the text size which has helped but within 20 mins of using my vaio my eyes are tired and I struggle to use it for any longer, maybe I'm just showing my age :( Has anyone experienced this? At first I put it down to tiredness after a long day at work but it seems to happen everytime I go on my laptop. My old vaio was great, I could spend hours on it.

I'm seriously considering returning this notebook and exchanging it for something with a bigger screen and lower resolution. It's a shame because I was really happy with the purchase.

    Any thoughts?

Try dimming screen a bit, it will probably help. Also try changing the res to lower one.

Anyway I got F11 series 16.4'' with Full HD and i just purchased SA 13.3'' with HD screen. To me it didn't matter if the screen was big or small. I had exactly same symptoms plus a tiny headaches from time to time. My solutions to the problem was Gunnar Optics glasses. They apparently designed for people working on computers a lot. The screen is somehow much brighter and the contrast is much better. I can work much more comfortably whole day without having those issues. Since I bought them I've never had a headache.

There are mixed reviews about them, it helped some people and some didn't notice any difference.

Google them, go to local optic store and try them. It takes couple days to adjust but you will love them. If for some reason you won't like them, you will simply return them.

Yes, try lowering the brightness levels and increase the font size in individual applications you work with.

Bump your DPI scaling to 125% under "Display" in the control panel.

Thanks for all the replies, I was already running the scaling at 125% with the brightness dropped down a bit. I've read a few threads on here which suggest the issue could be related to LED displays which can effect some people more than others, it's hard to say though.

Fortunately I'm in a position where it's not a problem to return the notebook if I decide I can't work with it. I'll see how I get on for a few days first. My second choice was an Vaio F13 but I'm concerned I could have similar issues. I guess I'll just have to take a chance.

Maybe try to see it in person before you change to an F?

    Maybe try 150% scaling?
