I just bought a Vaio SVE1712L1EW laptop and the fan is very loud. Even with simple tasks like internet the fan starts running. It is on 90% of the time. Is there any way to reduce the speed ? With speedfan the temperatures are always below 40°C, so I think the fan starts too early.
I also have a ASUS laptop and it makes less noise.
Hope somebody can help me because it is disturbing, especially in a quiet room.

    Core i3 3310M 2.4GHz
    4GB RAM
    240GB SSD Samsung
    HD7650
    Windows 8,

After placing the ssd I did a clean install of Windows 8, and installed all the drivers from the sony website. Everything works fine.

I have the same issue. I already cleaned my fan and temperatures are ~30C. Still, the fan is really loud and does not switch off. I have had many laptops, among those were some from Dell and other really cheap ones. For all of them, fan control worked. For my vaio, it does not. It is just blowing out cool air...

Have you found a resolution yet?

    Hi,

I didn't found a solution yet. I contacted Sony support and they say I should turn it in, still in warranty. But they also say if there is nothing wrong with it, I have to pay 70€ for the cost.

I personally think there is nothing wrong actually. I think this is the way it is with all the E series laptops or maybe even the higher end series.

You can't change anything in the bios also. I just hope they will release a firmware update where this issue is resolved. But again, I think we will have to live with it.

    Thanks for your reply :)

Oh god, I now got the same reply from Sony. I will never ever buy a Sony again. This is a joke.
Again, every other laptop, be it from Dell, HP, Acer or Medion (very cheap brand) had a working fan control - it was off until a threshold was reached, then cooled everything down, and then switched off again.
Only Sony screws it. It's okay if they want to keep the fan running all the time, but PLEASE, not at 2300RPM.
By the way, I have a VPCEB3M1E with BIOS R1090Y8. Sadly, there is no BIOS update available, which could easily fix it in my opinion.
