Vaio EA Series laptop battery

Okay, so I ordered a Sony Vaio EA series laptop with a large capacity battery. When I opened the box, the battery was strangely slim, so I suspected I had gotten a standard capacity battery by mistake. I called up Sony about it and they contacted the warehouse. I received an email from the warehouse a little over 24 hours later saying that they did send me the wrong battery.

Then I called Sony up the next day. They wanted me to send the laptop back so they could rebuild it. I told them that I didn't want to do that since I was leaving for college in a week. The customer support person said she spoke to a supervisor and they were sending me a large capacity battery. They charged me $200 for it and said they'd refund me (and as of right now, they're not refunding me).

I received the battery today. Again, the battery seemed very slim, but I decided that they couldn't have made the same mistake again. I took out the first battery and put this new battery in. It wasn't bulky, nor did it jut out the back creating an angle. I decided to compare the batteries. The two batteries were the exact same size and same model number. This means that Sony sent me a battery with the same model number of the battery I originally received, which the Sony warehouse already said was a standard capacity battery. Meaning that I again received a standard capacity battery.

But now Sony doesn't believe me and they think I have TWO large capacity batteries now (even though I'm pretty sure they're both standard capacity). Plus the first battery I received (the one that came with my laptop) only lasts 2.5 hours! Large capacity batteries do not last for only 2.5 hours!

I don't know what to do anymore. Does anyone have any advice?

 

What are the mAh ratings shown on the batteries?

 

mAH ratings? Sorry, not sure what that means. If you're asking about battery life times, the standard capacity battery was predicted to last 3.5 hours max. When I was buying the laptop, I'm pretty sure it said 5 hours for the large capacity, but now there's nothing on the large capacity battery.

 

If you look at the labels on the battery, you'll see things like model number, voltage rating, and specifically a number like 5200mAh or 7800mAh. If it's around 4000 or 5000 it's probably a standard capacity (six cell) battery. Large capacity (usually 8 or 9 cell) batts are usually above 7000mAh.

5000 is the high capacity one, or at least my E series came with a 3500mah battery.

 

Seriously? Wow. How long does that battery last?

 

Heh I looked up the specs on Sony's site, and it does look like the large capacity battery is 5000mAh. Take a look:

Yeah I was just confused because Sony's warehouse told me that the first battery I received with my laptop (which is the one you put down the link for) was standard capacity. I guess they got it wrong? Dunno, but still waiting on a call from the supervisor :/

 

General use / surfing I can get 2 - 2.5 hours usually using a power saving mode / ati powerplay to keep things clocked down, however if I turn a game on I think i get 20 - 30mins if lucky

Sorry for about off topic but can I ask Sony Vaio Laptop with intel core i5 and Ati Raeon HD 5650 configuration can switch graphic?

I mean between Intel GMA HD in core i5 series with ati discreet graphic? So when we only need surfing the web or reading something we could use GMA HD for longer battery live. I do not ask like Nvidia OPTIMUS or something just simple software switch like other laptop with intel GMA HD processor & ATI discreet GPU.

I already searching the internet & can't find any info on this. Im about buying an Sony Vaio EA 14" laptop with core i5-460m with ATI Mobility Radeon 5650.

EDIT: Nevermind I already get the answer form this forum. They say it cannot switch graphic.. Making you to turn on the radeon HD all the time. Damn..
