    I'm thinking about buying either a Vaio EB or F and would appreciate a few comments;

    If I configure the Vaio F with the 740QM, Blue-ray drive, full HD screen and GT425M, the price comes down to ~1300USD. If I get the Vaio EB with the 580M, , Blue-ray drive, full HD screen and Radeon 5650, the price end up at ~1200USD.

    As I understand, the two GPU's are pretty much identical in performance, so the main difference between the two laptops is the CPU and a few minor details (like USB3.0 and LED backlit keyboard on the F). I am a bit worried that the F would be a bit too bulky compared to the EB though, even if I would primarily use it on a desk at home. I was planning to find a Sony store nearby to check out the two laptops side by side, but are there any other differences I should be aware of?

    The EB has 4 usb ports compare to 3 in F series I believe.

    Can anyone ellaborate a bit about build quality, keyboard and screen quality (for the full HD screens) differences between the EB and F?

    As far as I can read in the various reviews, the F has slightly better build and keyboard, but I haven't found much mention of the full HD screens. Can anyone confirm this?

    As far as I know, EB series have screens which are LED backlit, F series do not but the EU premium screens (F series) which are matte rather than glossy finish are very good, US have glossy screen. Both EB and F can have resolution up to 1080p.

    I was at the local Sony store today to compare the two models. Sadley they didn't have an EB with the full HD screen though. I must say the F didn't seem that big and heavy, so I guess it's mostly down to whether you want to spend the extra $ for the extra juice you get with the F.

    I think the F has a few more ports than the EB, and if you can get it with a matte display that would make it nicer to use since it has less distracting reflections. You will use it mostly at home so it makes sense to go with the more powerful quad core CPU of the F. -- You can configure an EA to be nearly the same as the EB except for the screen resolution, but even though the EA has a smaller screen the entire laptop seems almost the same size as the EB. I think both the EA and EB have intel WIDI, but the F might not. My Z doesn't seem to have it.

    I believe the F has a better screen, it's also 96% Adobe RGB which is the same as Z if I recall correctly.

    I'm sure the F is a better notebook, but also more expensive. There is also the issue of noise, it does sound like people percieve it very differently though.
