Last august i purchased a vaio sr from sonystyle with a 3 year express ship extended warranty w/out ADH. I assumed that this warranty would be automatically linked to my laptop serial and i would just be able to call up sony and initiate a repair after the 1 year manufacturers warranty expired. However, from reading forum posts it seems I was supposed to have received warranty documents and I was supposed to have activated the warranty within a certain time period. However, these documents weren't included with my shipment. Thus, I never activated any warranty. Should I call sonystyle, or the sony support line, or am I screwed out of my warranty?![]()

Did you register at vaio page? If yes..there you can see the lenght od your warranty.

my notebook is registered on the sony style webpage. it also shows my purchase of the 3yr extended warranty under my order details from august. It doesn't say anything anywhere else about my warranty. I don't have any physical documents regarding my 3 yr extended warranty. . .

What are Accidental Damage from Handling service plans?
Accidental Damage from Handling Protection (ADH) plans offer the same benefits as the Regular Extended Service Plans but gives the added benefit of repairing or replacing your Sony product when it malfunctions due to breakdowns that occur from handling the product under normal operating conditions.
This Service Plan includes all parts, labor and shipping costs in its coverage to make sure your Sony product is repaired and delivered back to you without any out-of-pocket costs. Coverage begins on the date you purchased the product and runs concurrently with the Limited Warranty.
Why add your Extended Service Plan today?
Extended Service Plans run concurrently with the Limited Warranty so the later you purchase the Service Plan, the less coverage you will receive. Adding your Service Plan today ensures confidence in full product protection and entitles you to value pricing. Also, select Extended Service Plans are only offered at the time of product purchase. Plans that must be added on at the time of model purchase include any accidental damage from handling plans. These Service Plans are not offered for stand-alone purchase and cannot be purchased after you have bought your product.
Also, purchasing Extended Service Plans at a later date requires a valid proof of purchase and are only available within the first 6 months of your product purchase.
All Sony Extended Service Plans are offered, administered and fulfilled by Service Net Solutions, LLC and Service Net Solutions of Florida, LLC. See Terms and Conditions for complete details.

I believe you should contact Sony to receive your warranty papers, referencing your account which proves the order and payment.
I have just purchased a Sony via telephone and was told that the warranty papers ship out separately from the computer. Yours were likely lost -- or the rep forgot to complete the order by arranging for a shipment.
The extended warranties which are for "on-site" repair from Sony are actually contracted out. For mail-ins it's direct to Sony. The turn-around is rather quick, though -- just be sure to get the correct mail-in box from Sony.
Good luck.
