Hey everyone. So as of right now I have an ASUS G73JH thats been on preorder since new year's day. Its starting to become a real pain in the neck and am starting to browse around for something else. I noticed the Vaio F series and am interested. I was wondering if the GPU that it has (GeForce GT330M with the 1080P upgraded screen) will be enough for what im looking for. I want it to be able to handle games fairly well but doesnt have to be top of the line. I am mostly just hoping it could handle StarCraft 2, Diablo 3, WoW and L4D2 on max if not high settings. Do you guys think the 330M could handle this?

I play WoW and L4D2. I have my card oc'd a little bit with great performance gains and nominal change in gpu temps.

It really depends on your definition of "high settings" and what tolerance you have for fps. I don't do AA but I do have a good amount of the settings on med/high. Also, I need to have a frame rate of 60 or so to be happy. Obviously if you're content with 30+ than you have wiggle room to adjust settings even more than me.

Bottom line - It's a nice machine with a mid-ranged graphics card that is fairly capable out of the box. My experience is that it's easily (and safely) OC'd as well. You're not going to be playing tomorrows games at high detail but most of the games out today should be played with good details and respectable frame rates.

    Hope this helps.

Hax0r - do you have any issues with heat on your OC'd 330M?

Heat really shouldn't be an issue with the 310/330m. They're built on a 40nm process and they usually run pretty cool. Mine idles overclocked at 34-35 and considerably overclocked during gameplay only gets to mid-high 60's. The 330m should run just mildly warmer... maybe high temps in the mid-high 70's.

No heat issues to report here. I've hit a max of 70 degrees under gaming load.
