I have searched the internet, emailed Sony, and spoke with the most ridiculous tech support rep I've ever spoken with. I bought this computer about a month and a half ago with 7 Home Premium 64, and promptly upgraded to Ultimate 64, wiped and installed. I downloaded the drivers from Sony's eSupport and installed each one with success, excluding the USB driver and driver update. Here's the dilemma:
My two USB 3.0s function with basic devices like flash drives, and that's about it. I try to hook up my phone (Nokia N900) and I can select either Mass Storage or PC Suite on the device, after that, nothing happens. No errors, no device connections, no installing new drivers, nothing. On my two Dells and an Asus, this works perfectly. I've tried it with a Windows Mobile 6.5 device on all four laptops, the only one that fails is the Vaio.
There are two exceptions to this. If I plug in the device and reinstall the driver, the device will work until I unplug it, then it reverts back to broken. If I have the device plugged in as I turn on the computer, it will work until I unplug it.
This problem was happening BEFORE I installed Ultimate 64. Sony's support did the following: Installed an SD card adapter that I skipped (Real useful for USBs right?), the other rep told me that their drivers are only supported for the preinstalled OS, and that my only option is to reinstall Home Premium (Which I was still having the problem with). I know it's not a hardware issue due to the two exceptions I listed above.
Some people have had varying success with Vaio USB issues in the past by removing the battery for twenty seconds and putting it back in, but that doesn't work aside from one time due to me booting the OS with the USB in, has nothing to do with the battery.
If I could take this POS back and get the Dell, I totally would. Sadly, I'm screwed otherwise. I shelled out over a grand for this "flagship" device and Sony abandoned me, so I won't be purchasing another Vaio for the rest of my years, but does anyone have a solution that can help me now?
Very longwinded post, but I wanted to get all of the useful information out there in the event that someone could quickly help me out. Thanks.

You could try looking through the drivers that came with your laptop using VAIO Care. These will be either be on the recovery partition (if you kept it) or the recovery DVDs you burned.
I've noticed that the software & drivers available on eSupport isn't always complete and up to date. -
It didn't work. Tried it multiple times from the recovery partition and Sony didn't give me any DVDs, I'm not paying 47 USD for a Sonyfied Windows 7 Disc either.
I even installed a non-Sony driver that's more recent, does the same exact thing as the official driver/driver update.
