Two steps forward, one step back... I figured out how to make Vaio stop overriding my color settings when just using the laptop screen finally. ("Other applications control color settings" has a mind of its own.) But now I have an external monitor connected to HDMI and same problem again only worse.

The external monitor works fine, saves "use nvidia colors" etc. But laptop screen settings won't save. It reverts back to "Other applications control colors" when I hit apply. The only software loaded is the viewsonic driver for the external monitor.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

This symptoms occurs due to the color setting prioritization of VAIO Control Center. The NVIDIA color setting is being overriden by the VAIO Control color setting.

    To resolve this, follow the steps below;

    1. Open VAIO Control Center
    2. Go to "Display"
    3. Click on "Color Mode Setting"
    4. Click on "Do not apply color mode"
    5. Click "Apply"

For VAIO Control Center without "Color Mode Setting"

    1. Open VAIO Control Center
    2. Go to "Display"
    3. Click on "Video and Photo Color Setting"
    4. Uncheck "Enable the Photo Color Setting" and "Enable the Video Color Setting"
    5. Click "Apply"

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

Thanks for your reply! That is how I was able to fix it for laptop screen only, however when using the HDMI out it says...

Outputting to external display; the color mode setting is disabled.

And so it won't let me do anything there.

not that i know since this can already be considered as a limitation. and since you are using an external monitor what you can do is to control the color settings on the external monitor itself and not on the notebook.
