I need a little help here from someone more knowledgable than me. I have a Sony Vaio F540 computer running Windows 98 SE. Yesterday out of the blue it started powering off as soon as Window's desktop came on the screen. When it powered off, it then would not power on at all with the power cord. SO... I put in the battery and suddenly I had power up, but then it would power down as soon as desktop came up. I then tried with the battery powering up in safe mode, no problem at all. Came on and stayed on. Hmmm????[?] I took it apart, (I have come to know the internal organs of this computer very well)[ :D] I then turned it on, while I could see what all was happening. The fan NEVER did come on, but still there was not problem powering up in safe mode, even without the fan ever coming on. I figured the fan might be thermostatically controled and it never got hot enough to come on. Not sure about that one. Anyway, I need some advise here on this problem.[ :(]
