    Hello,
Today I watched a DVD in widescreen mode on my Vaio FE 690. I was surprised to see the black bars on the top and the bottom of the screen. Isnt the widescreen format supposed to fit the FE's widescreen completely? I thought those bars appeared only when you watch a widescreen dvd on a regular 4:3 screen? Any solutions/thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A computer screen is 16:10 technically, not 16:9, so you're always going to have the black bars. They shouldn't be nearly as large as those letterboxed on a conventional 4:3 screen though. Make sure your settings are correct.
