Hi, I'm thinking of buying a FS series laptop tomorrow, but the screen humming issues worries me (especially given the very poor battery life when the screen is at full brightness)

Would you Vaio FS owners care to answer these questions:
    - full brightness: is there a humming and how annoying is it, and do you know the expected battery life at this brightness level?
    - medium brightness: is there a humming and how annoying is it, and do you know the expected battery life at this brightness level?
    - very low brightness: is there a humming and how annoying is it, and do you know the expected battery life at this brightness level?

I heard that it lacks a TV output port too -- can you confirm that? (it's not mentioned on a lot of message boards, so I'm not too sure about that one)

To finish with, do you know whether the Firewire port on the FS can power external devices (like USB does), or if I need to buy a separate PCMCIA card for that?

No humming, fully tweaked you are looking at over 2h (depending on load and need for peripheral devices).

If you try, you can hear it, but it's not an annoyance, at least not to me. Battery life is over 2:30.

No noticeable difference in humming sound between different brightness levels. Don't know about the battery, never used it that way yet.

No TV-out, the biggest let down for me.

    Yes, it can.
