Has anyone ever replaced the dc jack on the side of the fs-550 (where the power plug connects)? The center pin on mine has broke, so the battery doesn't charge fully. Is this easily replaced or should I take it to an 'authorized service center'?

You might be able to fix it yourself using a soldering iron; it would be a simple repair. Can you take a picture of the damage and post it up, please?

I've not done it on this specific laptop, but I have done it on numerous others.

It is amazing how common this issue is in laptops; I think it has something to do with the recent decline in manufacturing quality.
