    Is this the same laptop....appearance wise looks the same..is the FS18 an Australian version and the FS 550 & 570 an American version ?
    and also how long has this laptop been out for ?

    another question is.....has anyone experienced a low humming sound when the screen brightness of set to a level below the maximum brightness as reported in "some" reviews.

    Probably, here in Europe for example we have FS115 and FS195.

    About 2 months.

    If you put your mind to it, you can, but it's not bothersome.

    The buzz is there, but really only if you put your head to it, at least where I tried it. I suppose you could hear it better in a really quiet room. I don't think of it at all though, the system is very very quiet.

    I spoke to sony on 3/23/05 about my latch breaking and I also mentioned the buzzing sound. they said they had documented the buzzing and now have a fix, though it will take 10 days! in the meantime, i've ordered a toshiba m45-s351... I've found toshiba's service to be far superior to sony's.
