Sorry if I'm making a duplicate thread, I've been searching for a while and can't find anything. I figured this would just work kinda like plug and play deal, but no luck there. When I first hooked the computer up to the TV it asked how I wanted to display it, yadda yadda... both the TV and the computer recognize they are connected but the TV won't display anything.

Thanks in advance guys. By the way this forum helped me decide on this computer and other than this little hiccup I'm loving it so far.

I'm assuming you have your TV set to the right HDMI port in the input menu?

Maybe try hooking it up via VGA cable and see if that works, if it works then it could be your HDMI cable.

have you tried Holding the fn +f7 and cycling through till the option to display on tv appears

    or

right click on the desktop and click catalyst control centre in there, there should be an option to enable the external monitor. Personally I would extended rather than mirror the desktop so it is displaying the correct ratio.

I usually run my fw with an external monitor and it connects very easily. I have tried on my hd tv through hdmi and it wasn't as happy about that but it was one of the first tvs to come with hdmi.

Just out of interest does your fw crash with a display driver issue? Mine does it randomly and was wondering if anyone has found a fix.

    Hi

I recently tried to connect my FW490 via HDMI to my AVR without success. I suspect that I configured my Receiver incorrectly and am ready to try again. One thing really bugged me; after disconnecting the HDMI from the TV, and pressing Fn/F7 to get the display back on my laptop, I found that the display was completely messed up. It was set at the lowest resolution, and there were vertical black bars on both sides of my PC's screen. I was able to reset the display to its original appearance, but if I need to do this every time i connect to an external tv, it is an annoyance. Is there some way to avoid this problem?
