    Hi

Considering buying a UK spec Vaio FW laptop. How easy is it to upgrade the memory on this?

From 4 to 8 GB. Looking at the spec on the Sony UK site it looks like it's already fitted with 2x2GB RAM

And would either of these brands be compatible? - Crucial.com or Orcalogic.co.uk

    Thanks for your help :)

You just need to remove 2 screws to remove the access panel. It's piece of cake!

Heh. Do they, that's nice of them. :)

I've ordered the laptop from Amazon UK and the 2 x 4GB upgrades- it's £400 cheaper than ordering it direct from Sony. Have to figure out the best way to upgrade from Windows 7 Home to Pro now...

Unless you need Volume Shadow Copy, Bitlocker, and the ability to log onto a Domain, Pro is really not necessary. But look *here* for some options.
