    Hi everyone,

I'm currently using Sony Vaio FW11M with ATI 3450 and the latest driver that Sony gave was ATI Catalyst 9.x, which is old.
Currently I'm using the latest driver for FW51M (which has ATI 3600 or 4600), but it works on my FW11.

I see that AMD/ATI is currently providing their mobile GPU driver, like nVidia does.

Do you think the new drivers (10.x) is safe to install on Vaio's?

Yes you can BUT you need to modify the installer with this tool:
Mobility Modder - ATI Version, Install the Latest Drivers on your ATI laptop
Directions are at the bottom of the page and your video card is listed as supported. You did not list your OS, but if still stock the 100 series came with Vista and the directions are included for Vista, XP and 7.
Latest version of drivers is 10-10 - just ensure you download the correct package from ATI (i.e. 32 vs 64 bit).

Mobility Modder afaik will only mod upto 10.1 drivers..

Get yourselves over to Guru3D and you'll be able to have 10.10e and 10.11 drivers all ready to go for FW.

I have an FW21 and currently runing 10.10e without any hassles.

Thanks Trixster101 stand corrected - been a while since I updated. Easy way is go to here:
    Graphics Drivers & Software
Fill in the blanks and download the file it recommends.
Go to the downloaded file and select as admin, install. It will extract the file to C:\ATI (remember that part)
Will come up with a menu to uninstall - select custom uninstall - will remove your old drivers.
Then go to device manager and tell update driver and browse to the ATI folder that was created. Tell install and you should be in business with the new updated driver.

Thanks, sure it will work on Vaio FW's? I think Sony modify their drivers, isn't it?

If you use that web link I gave you in Post # 6 - you'll get the AMD driver (official)
Works great so far no issues - I'm on the version dated 26 Oct (the 10.11 package)

I downloaded official newest ATI driver from AMD.
It won't let me install on my FW480, so I managed to install it manually.
Just go to Device Manager, and update video driver.
To install, select "Let me pick from the list..." then browse to ATI support folder where the package extracted to. The driver is located in a folder name Package.

Official drivers which have had their inf file modded to be more backward compatible with older hardware.

Been using drivers like this for ages without any problems, sometimes depending on package it might not install the driver after installation but that is a simple fix of chosing update driver from device manager and selecting the one from the install folders.

    Coin a phrase, "Pis% easy" :)
