I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find what I was looking for through the search. I have a Vaio FW450 and I just finished the windows 7 upgrade. Just the upgrade, not a clean install. Everything works flawless except the bluetooth. The computer can't detect it's bluetooth hardware. I tried installing the driver from esupport, but still no luck. Any ideas about how I can get this working?

When tried to upgrade mine (FW285) and ran the WIN 7 adviser, it had me uninstall the blue tooth driver then proceed with the install. Then worked ok, but for other reasons I did a clean install anyway. (actually the clean install is faster than the upgrade).
Do you have an option in programs and features to uninstall the driver and then re-load the new WIN 7 version?

Well, I tried uninstalling the driver. I ran the hardware troubleshooter and it says "hardware might not have been detected." When I restarted the computer, it automatically tried to install the driver, but gave the error "hardware not plugged in." You think I should try the upgrade again?

I had the same problem with my FW490 after upgrading to Windows 7. I tried looking for drivers etc. Then while checking hidden icons, I noticed a "wireless" icon. I hit it and a box popped up to turn wireless on/off and turn bluetooth on/off. The Bluetooth was off. Once I turned it on, it installed the driver and recognized my mouse which still didn't respond. I removed the mouse from installed devices and then had the "add wirelss devices find the mouse. Then everything worked perfectly.

Install the new WIN 7 Sony driver if has one on their support site, then check the manufacturer of your device (assuming mouse) for a new WIN 7 driver and install that. You should be able to install. As alstein mentioned make sure you have the physical switch turned on.

No specifics on the rest of your model number, here's the Sony support site driver for the 450J & WIN 7 Home Premium 64 bit:
