Hi Guys,
First post - please be kind : )
Dropped my Vaio FW21L and the power socket is now loose. Although loose, still powers the laptop from the AC adapter, so no circuit board or cable broken.
I'd like to...
a) open the VAIO up to see what EXACTLY I've done to it
b) obtain a replacement part because I don't fancy paying SONY over £150 to fix this (although the laptop is still under warranty - it has 8 months to go)!
As I have damaged it, it won't be covered under the warranty. No visible sign of damage however, as it dropped onto thick carpet with decent foam rubber underlay, so hopefully I haven't done too much damage.
Anyway, are there some pictures or instructions on how to dissassemble the laptop. Any tricky plastic latches/catches to be aware of? Any hidden srrews? What order do I need to follow to dissassemble it. Do I need to remove the speaker assembly (where the S1 / Vol / Play / buttons) are and if so, how?
The part that is broken (hopefully just dislodged & easy to fix) how easy is it to get a replacement part?
I found this thread after 3 days of searching but the 500-odd pages is a huge amount to trawl through. Would help if I knew exactly what to call the part that is broken (or likely to have broken).
Sorry if this has been covered on this forum. If it has - can you post a link for me?
Thanks in advance.
