What is the difference between lets say a VAIO FZ290 and a VAIO FZ4000? I'm confused what it means. Is the one with a higher number at the end better?

when the FZ was still on sale with specific models on sonystyle canada, the regular FZ's were not customizeable, whereas the 4000 appears to be, CTO (config to order) I could be wrong though.

What about between a FZ290 and an FZ390. Is there any cosmetic difference or is it just internal?
