This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Recycle day brought a donation of a very clean looking Sony Vaio laptop. I am not familiar with anything Sony but believe the motherboard, etc must be dead as there is no power even when connected to the AC adapter. Is there something else I should check before looking for instructions on how to take it apart to retrieve any ram, hard drive, etc.?
