I have a Sony Vaio laptop, PCG-NVR series, bought new in 2002. Windows XP Home edition. It isn't loaded with programs and has been used very little.

From the very beginning, I never got any sound out of it but for the work I was doing, it didn't matter, but now it does.

When I try to use Windows Movie Maker, I get an error message that I track and am told the Yamaha AC-XG audio device driver conflicts with the XP that I have. I finally track down an alleged updated (fix?) driver on the Sony site. This is download YA-E 06210802ID.exe. I d/l this following directions (I had successfully deleteted the driver in at Device Manager) and it d/l fine. I allow the reboot and get an error message that loading has been blocked because this driver conflicts with my OS.

I repeated the process 3X with the same result.

No surprise, Microsoft site is useless for help.

I would like to avoid calling a Tech person to my house since I live in Mexico and don't communicate that well but I'll do it if needed.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
