Please, i am an almost desperate VAIO VGN-NS12 user stuck in a BatteryCare problem.

While testing the batterycare feature of my sony vaio, i have upgraded (using VAIO Upgrade) the vaio utilities to the latest version.

Unfortunately, prior to the upgrade, my settings were to use "superbatterycharge" that limit recharge to 50%.

Upgraded utility seem to work fine (resolved a bug on S button, and so on), BatteryCare is still there, but now *IRREGARDLESS* of the saved setting the battery stop charging *ALWAYS* at 50%

I assume that BatteryCare feature went havoc, but i dont know how to restore this functionality, i'm stuck at 50% recharge.

I wont reformat my vaio, assistance barely understand my problem claiming for a bad battery (but is not), and in any case they don't have another VGN-NS to try "reflashing" the internal battery EEPROM withthe new settings.

I have tried any sort of tutorial reinstalling everything related to vaio drivers and utility, both from italian sony support and usa eSupport, nothing worked.

Even downgrading utility and batterycare function worked out.

I'm starting to suspect that my battery really have some issue on SMBus, so i have downloaded the SBWorkshop 3.71 demo that it is supposed to "lowlevel" read battery parameters through SMBus and reflash battery eeprom to default settings.

SBWorkshop reports that NO BATTERY FOUND !!!!!! arghhhhh

Well, maybe sony vayo does not use SMBus to communicate with battery, maybe my battery no longer respont to SMBus commands, how to know ?

May anyone try to test SBWorkshop utility on their vaio laptop just to see if someone can make it working ?

Does exist any way to restore the BatteryCare settings "for real" even if the utility appear to save their settings ?

I feel that those "smart batteries" are just prone to more problem, increase costs, and at the end are just more troubles.

    Please help me!
