I have reformatted and installed windows XP but when I went to find the drivers/utilities Sony does not recognize the model.

I'm stuck since without the drivers/utilities there's nothing I can do.

How do I find the drivers/utilities?

I looked around and found a reference to that model on German ebay. The listing said the Pcg-7h2m is actually the: VGN-FE11S
If you can boot into your laptops bios you should be able to confirm both model numbers. Sony laptops usually have 2 model numbers, the VGN and PC# and they both should be listed in the bios.

here is the link to drivers for the FE11S: VAIO Support Europe

edit: my bad, the bios might not list both model codes, but at least it should show you something and also give the serial number to look up

    Hi,

that was really helpful. Thank you very much.

There were 4 files which I have put on my portable hard drive which I then plugged into my VAIO.

    There are
    - drivers
    - modem
    - utilities
    - video

I have managed to install all the utilities.

However, I have problems with the other 3. When I try to install a driver it asks me to extract a file. When I extract the file then all I get is just the same files as before. I don't seem to be able to find the execute file which actually installs the file.

Really appreciate any advice you might have.

    Just a quick update.

I have managed to install the wireless LAN starter and can also connect to the same network that the PC I'm writing from is connected to. However, when I click on 'VAIO Update' it says I'm not connected to the internet.

When I look under Network connection details/support the vaio says 'automatic private address' and my PC says 'assigned by DCHP'. They also have different IP-addresses.
