Hi all, Could someone please test for me if you have done the Vaio SZ XP downgrade from Vista using the downgrade drivers from the sony site, if unplug your Vaio SZ when either logged out, locked computer that the screen will dim like if you are logged in.
Some say that it wont work because the VAIO power manager isn't running when logged out and it wont be able to dim the screen. But then again I got another computer running XP and when logged out it will dim the screen if unplugged. Does it actually work? Can XP actually control the vaio's power settings?
Could someone please help me out?

When it comes to power management, Sony relies heavily on the O/S. Notebooks from Dell/HP use hardware (BIOS) to control certain function keys and brightness settings. Sony does not do this, hence, unless you're in windows, logged in, you are most likely stuck.
I can tell you my SZ goes full brightness until I load into Vista, at which time it will go to the correct screen brightness.
