I am considering a Sony Vaio Pro 11. I am impressed by it's light weight form factor and was able to play with a Pro 13 at Micro Center. Very impressive. I'm able to grab a Pro 11 with i5, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD for rather inexpensive, but limited quantities so want to grab as soon as I can.

But I have a few questions:

    (1) Has anyone replaced the SSD? I understand it's M.2 not mSATA, can anyone confirm?
    (2) Are you stuck with Sony drivers or can you use stock component drivers (i.e. Intel for VGA, chipset, etc)?
    (3) How easy is the upgrade to Windows 8.1, any concerns with drivers or other issues?
    (4) Has fan profile been fixed? I hear it ran constantly with initial release units
    (5) Wi-fi, same thing, I hear initial machines had some disconnection issues, but apparently fixed with latest drivers/firmware?
    (6) Can you access the insides without voiding warranty? Repaste CPU successful?
    (7) Can you do a clean installation of Windows 8.1 without issues (using Sony's drivers at least, or better, component OEM drivers)?

Thanks for any input that can be offered.

Just received my new Pro11 (SVP1122C5E).
Not planning on replacing the SSD yet but it's a Samsung - MZNTE128HMGR 128GB M.2 MiniPCIe

Fan issue seems to be fixed. Not tried the wifi long range yet. It came with Win 8.1 Pro, not sure if I'll keep it yet.

I have the same questions too like HTwing, I'm definitely interested in a Vaio Pro 11 but amazon reviews 1 stars are far more than 4-5 stars lol. HT, getting tired of the v5-122p? What made you interested on the Vaio Pro 11 if you don't mind me asking? There's also the yoga 11s at best buy that I'm currently contemplating on buying with the haswell i5 and IPS display and SSD.

Of you look a lot of the low ratings were due to wifi which had apparently been fixed.

I'm looking for something a little more powerful and lightweight. 128gb is just a little to small for my needs and would prefer 256 and refuse to pay the $700 up charge for 4gb more ram, slightly faster cpu, and 256gb ssd. Upgrade cost should be half that. And don't really need the i7 or 8 gb although would be nice.
