Hey everyone, I've had my Vaio Pro 13 for about 6 weeks. Just recently in the past couple of weeks a problem started arising where the notebook will just power off at random. My first inclination was that it was an overheating issue, but after checking the temps, it idles at around 46C, which is totally fine. Next I thought maybe it was a firmware issue, so I updated that, to no avail.

Sometimes it will work for hours with no issue, sometimes it will power off within 1 minute. Even when outside of Windows in the Vaio Assist menus, it will still power off. Keep in mind this is a hard power off.

I am wondering if maybe there is some issue with the fan, as I can never hear the fan running. Recently on some hot days the fan would power on and be quite loud, but recently I haven't heard it at all. However I tried to listen closely recently and I think I might have heard a ticking sound similar to that of a platter based hard drive. Of course this notebook has an SSD so that wouldn't be possible, unless perhaps the fan isn't working for some reason.

Any thoughts or ideas on how I should proceed?

    Thanks everyone!

Go to youtube and view a 1080p video.
If you don't hear the fan come on then there's probably a problem with the fan.
