Hi guys, I have a VAIO VGN-N110G notebook and I want to upgrade the ram to 2gb. On Sony's website, it says the max ram is 2gb, but I want to know if it can handle 2gb of ram in 1 dimm instead of two 1gb dimms. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guy.

of course you can, but why would you do that? is always better to have 2x1GB memory than 1x2GB module (dual channel vs. single channel memory pairing). Dual channel can give you 6-8% performance increase (on average).

Maybe he wants to leave a slot free, in case he decides to add more RAM in future. If he filled both slots now, when he upgraded later he'd have to remove and throw away a stick.

Thanks guys. I just found a deal on the 2gb ram that's all. In any case, the performance will jump by quite a bit from the 512mb that I have right now.
