Had a Vaio SB 2011 which had really bad 1366x768 panel with bad vertical viewing angle, screen has orange hue when you tilt, also has visible horizontal lines when you look up close, upgraded to the vaio se last december due to IPS display, great display with only red orange issue, was wondering the 2012 Vaio S 13.3" has Display plus and Premium 1600x900 display, anyone know how they both compare to 2011 IPS SE display apart from resoultion, i.e viewing angle, contrast, does it have orange hue when you tilt vertically as well as visible vertical lines present on vaio sb..

Looking for 2012 13.3" Vaio S Display plus and Display Premium Comparison with Vaio SE 15.5" IPS

Also seems the 2012 13.3" S has Display Premium Option while the 15.5" only has Display Plus, is the 13.3" Premium Panel superior then?

from seeing it in store, the S 13 displays look grainy and pixelated to me. don't know whats so premium about them. if those are premium. then the quality of the screen on the Z is like.. godlike

I haven't seen a 13" 1600x900 in store just 1366x768, and the IPS is much nicer than that!

Only the "Custom Build" S13A/P (2012 editions of S-serie) do have Premium screens.
All others (available in store) and the 2011 series are the Plus editions.
You can check this out on the specs-page of Sony website.

Notebookcheck tested the new S13A, the display unfortunately seems on par with the old SA13 with even less brightness and constrast ration under 200:1 :(

I think that perhaps that was a different model. By all the anecdotal accounts I've seen, the S 13 Premium uses a significantly better than the old S13s. Do you have a link?

Here's the only review of the new S13 that I could find.

Since direct link doesn't work properly try to go to www.notebookcheck.de and you'll easily find it

I think the worst problem of my vaio sa is really poor contrast...Vaio S13A seems to have the same problem here...

I just received my Sony Vaio S13 Premium and I'm really disappointed with the 1600x900 display. It is grainy, fuzzy and not crispy. My 2-years-old Dell Studio 14 (720p) is WAY better.

I'm still playing with it (I received like 30 min a go), but idk. I will probably go to a Sony Store this Monday and check if all S13P look like this. If positive, I'm returning it and getting a XPS 14. Otherwise, I will ask for a replacement.
