So I just received my Laptop (SVS131290X). I replaced the 500GB drive with my own SSD.
SSD is detected however, I can't seem to be able to install Windows 7 Ultimate.
I have a Windows 7 bootable disc that refuses to boot in UEFI so I changed the BIOS setting from UEFI to Legacy.
Once the install starts and gets to about 5-6% (Expanding Windows/files) i get an error stating files are missing in the installation medium (they may be corrupt).
I have installed from this DVD many times on my desktop without issues.
Anything that I am missing.
I am still running the same stock BIOS. Should I go back to the original disc update the BIOS and then try it? also, why isn't the disc booting in UEFI mode?
Thanks.

anyone... I'm stuck.
I've followed all the correct instructions. Seems like there is something prohibiting my laptop from properly booting windows 7 in uefi mode ( I followed these directions to the T: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Help Forums)
And in Legacy mode, it stalls while installing from any medium around expanding (stating that windows couldn't find files on the installation medium: 0x80070002 and several other 0x80070057 errors).
There is nothing wrong that I'm doing. I have downloaded the digital river iso.
Please help. -
Apparently, the problem is the SSD drive (can't be anything else).
I came across another post somewhere here which stated that the Samsung 840 Pro drives (256gb) can't seem to be able to install windows 7. I got it to work by making use of a limited size of the drive.
Once the installation fails, I re-start/resume the install but on the other (unused) partition and it succeeds.
I'm not sure if the problem lies with Sony or with Samsung but someone needs to come out with a solution.
Think twice about using a Samsung 840Pro ssd on the Sony Vaios.
