Hi all, I'm considering getting either a Vaio Z or SA (more likely the SA due to the MUCH lower price).

What I was wanted to know was, I know Sony offer the 2620 as the most powerful processor in both laptops. If I were to purchase a 2720 separately would I be able to fit it myself or would it not be compatible?

I believe there are some other laptops that offer either the 2620 or something in the quad core range such as the 2720 or 2820. They may be adjusted at the factory though in a way not possible for a consumer to do.

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for looking.

there's no way those laptops will be able to cool a quad sufficiently. Even if it works it'd be throttling like crazy.

I see, wondered why they didn't offer them.

^because of the SA and Z series thin design will not allow them to cool a quad cpu , battery life is also concerned, if you want a more powerful processor, go for F series
