You are welcome but the thanks should go to heywhitmarsh who send me the instructions on this...

hi,
I was wondering if you can repost the asus file. The link appears to be dead.
Thanks -
I did the steps in this thread, I wondering if any of the RealTek audio startup options can be disabled?
Yes HKLM:Run RtHDVBg Realtek Semiconductor C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVBg64.exe /SONYAPO
Yes HKLM:Run RtHDVBg_Dolby Realtek Semiconductor C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVBg64.exe /FORPCEE4
Yes HKLM:Run RtHDVCpl Realtek Semiconductor C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVCpl64.exe -s
Thanks -
This doesnt effect the sound that is being output via HDMI right? HDMI sound is output by the gfx card?

How do I uninstall Doubly? My computer has been locking up and I'm pretty sure its the audio driver. SO this might help me. I tried just uninstalling my drivers in the device manager and installing this but now my mic doesn't work. I think I didn't get Doubly off all the way. Help

I don't know what the difference is... maybe someone can try out the Realtek drivers and post back here...
-
Also couldn't hear any differences between xloud and dolby v4 before installing sony sound drivers, are there supposed to be separate drivers for xloud or does the effect only apply for the speakers and not the earphone jack? -
@Morfa: You didn't hear a difference because this fix is for the internal speakers for the laptop, not the audio jack. You can't test this method with headphones.
Can someone explain to me how I remove Dolby from my computer? I don't see it in the uninstall programs window but I definitely have a Dolby tab in the Sound Devices. Thanks. -
You won't see it in the control panel unless you installed the sony audio driver that comes bundled with dolby. I think it just shows up by default inside the vaio control centre regardless, the actual dolby window (with the movie/music/game/off/uninstall options) didn't pop up for me until after I installed the sony drivers nor where there any differences switching between xloud and dolby until afterwards as well.
If you're really worried about it go into the registry and delete it from there. -
The difference is that the ASUS drivers give you an equalizer. Just pull every control to maximum and the sound is MUCH better.
This mods also works with Windows 8. You just shouldn't press the AsusSetup.exe. cos that will give you an error saying it don't work with windows 8. You should go in to the drivers folder and press the Setup.exe from there.
To make sure this works you need to uninstall the Dolby drivers first.
I made some instructions on how to do it when you have installed. The settings tabs are in Swedish but it should be the same tabs and same places in your country. So just follow the steps. And remember to click the box in step 4 so the equalizer is on.:
-
Wow, thanks a lot z0lid, so glad I didn't miss your post. I had given up on the sound driver on windows 8, didn't know the asus driver still works!!
Thanks again !!! -
Heads up guys! Sony released new Audio driver for Realtek version 6.0.1.6738, now there is an equalizer in the Dolby settings:
Audio Driver (Realtek) Update version 6.0.1.6738 : Download : Sony Middle East & Africa -
The Dolby equalizer was released awhile ago for other Vaio S models. It barely gives any sound boost with everything turned up.
-
I know how bad the original sound is. So i was extreemly glad i found a way to get it to work with win8 also.
I i wouldent have found it i would probably just go back to win 7 tbh. -
I tried this on my VPCZ1. Works as described, although the difference in sound levels, with all the equalizer sliders set to full, is barely noticeable. I made a setting for the equalizer like that, and turning it on and off lets me hear the difference.
However, now the noise cancellation feature of the nice noise cancellation headphones that came with my Z1 is not there any more. I guess you can either have the equalizer or the noise cancellation, not both. The Dolby tab is still there though - the text changes from speakers to headphones depending on whether or not the headphones are plugged in, so the driver is detecting the headphones all right.
So, unless anyone has any further suggestions, I'm going back to the stock driver - I'd rather have the noise cancellation for my headphones than the miniscule increase in sound from the speakers that this new driver provides.
This is not to take away any of the credit due to heywhitmarsh for even attempting this, and to zOlid for the nice tutorial. Well done, both. Repped. -
The Dolby driver should be uninstalled fully before you install this driver.
Or it wont do much.
What is this noise cancellation function your talking about?
Does that function still work if you choose to not use the equalizer at all, but are still using this driver?
If it does you could just keep the driver and set the sliders to max. And when your using your headphones you just don't have the equalizer on.
In other words when your using your headphones you just declick the box on Step 4 in my guide.
And when your using speakers you just check that box on Step 4 again.
Im not sure how much difference this does on the CPCZ1 but on the S series the difference is really HUGE its not just "a little more sound". Its a huge difference in both volume and quality of the sound.
It really is a HUGE difference on the S series.¨
But like i said try this with a fully uninstalled sound driver and uninstalled Dolby. Cos that could be the issue also. Or its just the fact that it don't do as much difference on the CPCZ1 as it does on the S series. -
I uninstall the dolby driver in control panel , it's just 2.93 mb and do your instruction but i think it's not improve the louder . Does i miss something or did'nt uninstall completely dolby driver , i use vaio svs13a290x win8 with the newest bios version
-
I just uninstalled the Realtek driver that I was using earlier, and then installed the one linked above. Was I suposed to do something more to uninstall the Dolby part? Perhaps someone could help me with a guide for getting rid of the Dolby stuff.
FYI the Z1 comes with noise cancelling earphones. Each earphone has a tiny microphone built in. The driver detects the sound from these microphones and subtracts it from the sound signal being sent to the earphones, so that the outside noises get cancelled out. This is quite effective for train and flight noises. The Sony stock driver has a control panel where you can anable this feature and select the amount and type of cancellation. This is totally missing in the Asus driver. -
Oh my god! That asus driver worked wonders!
I was about to give up because I didn't really know what i was doing. there were many .exe programs in the zip file that i downloaded so i was a bit confused.
I just downloaded the application file in the drivers folder. The one named setup.
And i restarted my computer right away. I didn't uninstall dolby but it came up saying that something went wrong and it couldn't start the dolby application.
I guess the asus driver over-powered the dolby.
In comparison to my old computer that had fairly loud sound, before, it was like it was set on low volume; now, it's like it's set between medium and high!
My goodness i hope this continues on and nothing bad happens.
But keeping that in mind, since it seems to be a software problem and not a problem with the speakers itself, why doesn't sony release a new audio driver or something?
I ordered mine a week ago. June 2013. There was more than enough time to fix the audio problem that everyone has been talking about. -

I just tried to Asus drivers, and will be going back. The volume increased, but so has the distortion. Sounds like the vaio's two little speakers are having way too much power forced through them...almost painful to listen to to be honest.
-
I have an SA 13.3" and my solution was to get the Logitech Z305 external speaker. Sounds it GREAT.
-
I have a Sony XO-D1 (20 year old) system that I connected S15 to, but the sound card (and/or) drivers are such bad quality that you can tell the smartphone has better sound quality
(OK... I comapred Xperia S but still
)
Plus the point is to be able to watch a movie or listen to a song without bulky cables and external speakers - I cannot watch virtually anything or listen to music without a considerable Gain boost from a playerIt's that silent.
-
Have you looked up the Z305? It's hardly what I'd consider bulky or heavy.
-
Does it have a positive weight (over 0gram) or positive size (over 0x0x0cm)? Then it's bulky
It's just an IMO - I want the laptop to have acceptable sound, so I don't have to add additional bulk. VAIO F1 has amaizing speakers for example. They could have at least added such. Maybe as an addon via extra-sheet battery or dock. -
It's painfull that even slimmer devices like iPad have way better speaker quality than the S15. Are the new Vaio laptops any better? Audio is the only thing making me want to return using Toshiba's Harman/Kardon enabled laptops
-
Looks like this with an extension cable might be worth looking at. I have the big brother, the Z305 external speaker and the sound quality and volume are fantastic. When I bought the Z305 it was $85 new. Now it's $200+! That's a crazy price increase.
