I purchased a vaio S13 (SVS13125CA) that came with Win8 preinstalled 2 weeks ago and today I tested the webcam and found the quality to be really horrible.
During day time, its acceptable with little noise, however in a low-light condition (room light), the camera is extremely bad, the noise is all over the image even when I try to increase the brightness in the Windows 8 camera app. It seems the camera is not adjusting with the light condition. I want to know if anybody is facing the same issue, and if there is an alternative driver to fix this issue.
Thanks

Windows 8 is a prescription for usability problems. No business will tolerate this software, let me assure you. As a productivity tool, it is unusable. -
@mbushnaq Have you tried to use another software to test the camera? like skype for the matter just to see if other apps are having the same problem. if the all have the same problem i think it's really the camera quality that is like this. i have the same low light quality on my Z but it's a 2 years old. -
Also, I went to the mall to test other laptops like mine, but the lighting there was bright so I couldn't tell the difference. -
There's only so much a lens like that can do in low light. It doesn't have the aperture or sensor to capture that much light.

I just bought a Vaio S15, and webcam was working fine even in a low-light condition, but after a day while playing with Gesture Control suddenly the quality became horrible. The image is now really dark regardless of lighting conditions.
Have you found any solution to your problem? -
in fact i am pretty sure i have never owned a smartphone that even had worse speakers then any of my vaios
