So I just bought a Sony Vaio S15, with a pretty decent spec, but I was really shocked to find that when I plugged my Bose headphones in, the sound quality was really quite poor. I went into the windows settings, and played about with a few options, and the only one which seemed to have any use was the "Dolby Home Theater" thing, which added a little more depth to the sound, if that. Overall, the sound quality still lacks clarity.

So yesterday I ordered a USB Sound Card, because I had no idea that the sound would be this bad, and I do a lot of audio production, so I basically had no choice.

Can anyone else say that they find the sound quality of their Vaio S to be less than sufficient?

This has been a frequent complaint in reviews, I know that.

I haven't felt that the headphone sound is really that extremely bad. Make sure you plug is fully in. You really need to press the last 1mm on some s15 cos the jack is kinda tight.
My jack ain't that bad but i saw some youtube vid of some ones unit and he really had to press the last bit.

The speakers how ever are dreadful. They are really bad and you cant play that loud on them either. I was actually thinking if maybe there is any possibility to swap the actual speaker out.
With some same size speakers from a electronics store. I do realize they are soldered to the board but it shouldn't be that hard to solder a new pair on the board.
The question is really if this will even work? And if one can get their hands on some speakers that would fit and have better sound properties.4

Sound really feels like this computers achilles heal and its really sad cos in every other way its brilliant.
It would be nice to find a really small really good usb sound card for headphones and see how it does. Cos the sound can always get better.
And my Monster Turbine Pro gold do sound better on other units but its still not awful on the vaio.
