Hey guys, I just purchased a Vaio SA and decided to install Counterstrike Source and Battlefield 3 onto the computer. However, I have noticed that even with V-Sync tuned on, the top half of the screen seems to be undergoing screen tearing. Updating the graphics drivers did not help, neither did a clean install. Does anyone else have a similar isssue?

What settings are you on for bf3? I believe you have the 6630m in your vaio, not sure if its ddr3 or 5. I'll venture a guess and say you could play that game on low/medium settings. Check your temps while gaming to see if they are getting high causing any throttle issues. What are your overall system specs.

i5 2430m
4 GB DDR3 RAM
ATI 6630m GDDR3 (can't remember memory amount)
1600x900 display
In BF3 at low-medium, I get less tearing since the FPS rarely jumps over 60 FPS. On CSS however, I almost always gets tearing due to the high FPS. I am playing on a cooler and the temps for the GPU sit in the lower 60 degrees (celsius), so temps are not an issue. -

enable triple-buffering with D3DOverrider for DirectX games. i believe it's enabled by default in Battlefield 3 (you can still force it by typing "RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 1" without the quotation marks in the console). for OpenGL games, you can enable triple-buffering in CCC.
D3DOverrider helped me to get rid of the tearing and micro-stutters in FIFA 12. -
