I just found out that my fingerprint reader on the Vaio SA25GX no longer works. It is not even in the device manager. I also tried to re-install the security software on Sony's website, but that did not help either.

So if anyone know a way to fix it, pleases help

Try to press down on the reader. It's mounted using only a electrical connector (no screws) so it could have bad contact.

He mentions that it doesn't show up in the device manager, so pressing harder may not help so much...

On my Vaio Z it shows up under "Biometric Devices". Are there any entries in yours under that?

Are there any unrecognized entries in Device Manager. Sometimes if you delete those it can force a re-install of that item.

If there's bad contact the USB signals can't reach the reader module and it will not be detected correctly.

when I checked, there was nothing mentioning any biometric devices (mine shows up the same); however, this problem was fixed after a windows update was installed, but it would be nice to know what is going on with it to prevent future problem
