Hi, I purchased a new Vaio SA from the Microsoft Store two weeks ago since I needed a laptop for school and wanted to go high end, the vaio fit perfectly. After a short while with it I realized that there is no Intel Graphics Display panel, only the AMD catalyst control center. When I flip the switch to Speed, I can use the Display panel that Intel has if I download it from Intel's website. However for some reason it seems that Intel's integrated graphics solution doesn't seem to work when I flip the switch to stamina. In Speed mode from what I can tell, the 6630M starts running, but when I flip the switch to stamina, I don't think any form of Graphics processing happens. I tried to run Minecraft with the switch set to stamina, but for some reason nothing requiring graphics can run. Does anyone know the solution to this? I updated the video driver using Sony's drivers, and tried downloading the drivers from Intel, with no solution, Intel would give an error and say go back to the manufacturer for the drivers. I'm not good with drivers, so I'm a little confused. I can't see the Display settings with Intel's control panel if I switch to stamina either. Is this normal or did Microsoft accidentally remove something important when they purged out the bloatware?

For the record, I have a normal SA, with a core i5 2410 (which stays at 2.7 GHz although I haven't set Turbo Boost) 4gb of RAM, and a 500GB HDD, with a 1GB 6630m graphics card, and according to Catalyst Control center, an Intel HD integrated card that is standard with SandyBridge that never seems to be used.

I think there is an issue with opengl on the intel graphics on these systems. Just play it in speed mode, it's going to torch your battery either way.

I dont know exactly what the problem is, but just right click on the desktop and goto graphics prop and you'll see intel graphics panel window. Is tht what you wanted?

Beaups is correct. There is a known issue with many if not all laptops combining intel and ati graphics at the moment. OpenGL based games / applications such as minecraft will not run when only the intel graphics are active. I know there are a few very long threads discussing the issue in a few places in the forum.

Only fix is to run these applications / games with the ati card -- speed -- active.

    Yep:
"With AMD Dynamic Switchable Graphics technology, full enablement of all discrete graphics video and display features may not be supported on all systems (e.g. OpenGL applications will run on the integrated GPU or the APU as the case may be). Always check with your system manufacturer for specific mode capabilities and supported technologies." - ATI Dynamic Switchable Graphics Technology (fine print at the bottom)

Problematic is that the vaio SA dont use the Dynamic Switchable Graphics technology (automatic switching). I would try to reinstall the drivers from the sony support site

ahh okay, thanks everyone. I tried re-installing drivers and everything and thought it might be a defect of some sort. You all saved me an unnecessary return. Thanks for the clarification.
