    Hi everyone,

I was wondering what the differences are between Vaio SA/SB1's and SA/SB2's.

In my opinion, the specs looks the same.

(Oh and just not to mention about Vaio SC & SD, makes me more confused  )

The Sony SA has a 1600x900 display, 6630M dedicated/integrated switchable graphics and it also has a higher res webcam. The lid may be possibly be made out of carbon fibre reinforced plastics but i kind of doubt that and it waits to be seen. It is also a little thinner than the SB.

The SB is made from aluminium and magnesium alloy possibly a composite. There may be some 6630M preconfigured versions floating out there but now all models come with a 6470M graphics card. It has a 1366x768 and a lower res webcam.

    Rachel, he asked for the differences between SB1X &SB2X / SA1X & SA2X like difference between Z11/Z12/Z13.

As far as I know there does not seem to be any difference between them. Its not really a refresh I guess. No change in specs, maybe they added new color options ??? And maybe some hardware & software fixes.

The SA/SB 1's have the lower resolution screen of 1366 x 768 and the SA/SB 2's weight is ~.15 Lbs less than the SA/SB 1's. On top of that, the 1's have 6490M (both the SA and SB) while the SA 2's have a 6630M (which is an underclocked 6650M) and the SB 2's have a 6470M.

Some countries indeed. The stuff I posted above is for the Canadian version (although Canada does sell both US and CAD models).

Hhmmm... The Sx1's were not marketed in the US, and I don't recall seeing them elsewhere (doesn't mean they weren't).

Thanks for your replies, everyone! :)

In Belgian Vaio Webstore, they got SB1's and now I see SB2's. But SA's aren't available yet.
So I was wondering, maybe I should wait for the 2nd generation of the SA/SB and keep saving my money to get one.

I do remember, when I got my previous laptop (FW11m), which I bought when it was just released, their was already a FW21 coming.
So maybe the Vaio S-series is in that phase now.

Well you're wrong. Bestbuy sells the SC1 under its blue label programme.
