Is there any way to get the laptop to wake from sleep mode by opening the lid. At the moment I need to open the lid and then press the power button.

On my older Vaio Z there was an option in the Vaio Control Center but this isn't there in this model.

    Thanks

nopes - not by opening the lid. btw, you can press any keyboard, to wake up from sleep mode (suspend, not hibernate), not just the power button.

yep, I have not found a way, yet, either.

EDIT: also, the Vaio Control Center and Event Service get cranky after about 10 or so standby cycles :( (nonworking hotkeys, KB backlight control going AWOL, etc).

So I reboot every night, now. Just to freshen it up a bit.

actually I have no crankiness problems. btw, just install the latest vaio event service, vaio control center updates from the SA or Z2 drivers page.

Ahh, I pulled it from one of the SA models that had win7pro by default, and the reason is because it's Vaio Control Panel/Event Service (both are needed, apparently) allow quite a few more options for the KB backlight control (i.e, an option to keep the KB backlight on all all times, or only when plugged in, etc).

Not all VCP laptops have lid opening action.

Vaio Control Center and Event Service are part of "Sony Notebook Utilities".

I tried the SA Sony Notebook Utilities on my SB and it said it's not for this model, any other ideas?

Use Universal Extractor to extract it. Goto the TEMPEXE folder inside the extracted output folder.

Inside, is one setup program and 4 folders, run each setup.exe in each of the 4 folders, to install it all.

All that bypasses the model name check Sony runs. You can edit that Model.txt file, too, but this is less intrusive (just in case), so...

    have fun!

And remmeber to uninstall the Event Service and the Notebook Control center first.

BTW, the one for the ISB (folder: BC) doesn't need to be reinstalled, so you can ignore it, if you want. Same with the Power Management.

So all you need to remove and install again are the Event service and the control center to get it all :)
