I am installing Vista Business on an SR Vaio that came with Vista Home Premium.

Vista installs fine but when I try to install drivers (downloaded for the SR from the sony website) i get errors stating something like "This will only work with Windows Vista" as if it has trouble with the version of Vista I am using.

Is the laptop somehow supposed to recognize and restrict which version of vista I can install on it? I have a legit version of Vista Business so why can I not install that on my laptop?

I need to join a domain so I need Vista Business.

    Any help is much appreciated.

you need to make sure you are download the vista business drivers not the vista premium drivers off the sony support page....

god knows why they would be different...is it possible youre also installing a 64-bit OS? Im not sure if the SR has drivers for 64-bit yet....

Nope I am installing the 32 bit version of Vista.

I did go to the sony website and got the Vista Business drivers but got the same issue. The message "This update can only be run on Microsoft Windows Vista" as if the laptop is somehow locked to Vista Home Premium.

    ??? :(
