One of my users has a Vaio SR and is trying to create recovery discs (DVDs) using Sony's tool. Sony's application fails at 24% every time with the following error:

"The disc could not be created.: Missing source folder or files."

It's running Vista and is pretty new, although they repartitioned the drive recently have installed a lot of additional software and may have uninstalled some Sony software. I'm thinking these could be the cause.

Any ideas? If not, any recommendations for third party software that provide similar functionality (full system backup images to disc)?

BUMP. I'm experiencing the same problems with a Sony SR36 I got a week ago. I already reformatted using the hidden recovery partition in the HDD so it's pretty much back to factory settings. Even then, I get the same error message when I try to burn a recovery DVD.

I am afraid that your recovery partition is being damaged. Your best bet would be to clone the drive to another external and save it for the emergency.

I recommend using Acronis for this.

    cheers ...
