    Hi everyone,

I need some help here with my Vaio SR 290 CTO. I have been using Windows 7 Pro on my SR 290 for a month with no issue except I tried to do vedio chat with my friend today. I found that my Mic does not work(my friend can't hear me at all). I pull up Device manager to test my Mic and I think there is only Webcam driver installed. So the build Mic simply not working. I googled the driver and came up dry. Does everyone have solution to this?

    Thank you.

The drivers installed themselves when I loaded Win7. Are you sure the microphone isn't muted or anything? If you go to Sound Devices or Sound Manager in the control panel (I forget what that is called), does a microphone device appear?

Yes, Windows does a pretty good job on loading up the drivers.
As for the microphone, I don't think that it is muted since I could not find it in my device manager which could mean the microphone driver is not installed. I could not find the driver on sony's support website.
Does anyone have a solution to this?

Install the Vista audio driver or use Win 7 default driver.

How does that activate the microphone?

Yes, coolguy reminded me, did you install the Realtek audio driver from Sony eSupport site? I think it's reasonable to assume the Realtek audio chip includes both output and input, so maybe the driver would help. You can also try the most recent Realtek driver from their website, but I just used whatever Sony provided (the Vista driver, and I think I extracted the setup to get at the EXE inside).

I still could not get it to work. I found my Recovery Disk, but they seem have issue with Win 7. So I could not get the Audio driver installed. Could you explain it in more detail how did you get the Microphone to work?

    Thank you.
